As a Student, I was employed as assistant to my mother and helped out in the food store and in the clothing store. The Social life
was so rich, which I didn’t appreciate at the time (I now think we all reflect the same sentiments after all those years)

Films, Square Dancing,, Ballroom Dancing, Scottish Dancing, Badminton, Social Evenings, Whist. All activities I was introduced
to at Goldings. What Riches.
I was miles away from any school friends and so all these activities, along with the Fantastic environment made my childhood very
memorable.

Mr. And Mrs Embleton, outside their flat in MacAndrew
with their dog “Andy”
MacAndrew Wing at Goldings was knocked down, it was
not part of the listed building, as it was built in 1960.

My Mother was to pass away at Goldings in February 1966
(and before Mr Wheatley was to retire) My father was to reach the
deservedly heights of Headmaster after Mr Wheatley but was to
spend the remaining months in the post before Goldings closed on
his own. He was to be the last Headmaster at Goldings.
After Goldings closed he moved to Huddersfield Polytechnic as
Head of the Horticultural Department. While he was there he met
his second wife, Jean, who was Chief Technician in the Science
Department. They were married in 1970, twelve years before he died.
